Reading Campaign and Poster Making Competition for World Literacy Day 2026 on the theme of  ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society)

In observance of World Literacy Day 2026 and in line with the objectives of ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, DIET Lawngtlai organised a Reading Campaign and Poster Making Competition for its Pre-Service Teacher Education (PSTE) Trainees at the Multipurpose Hall of the institute. The activity was conducted with the aim of promoting the culture of reading, spreading awareness on the importance of literacy, and sensitising prospective teachers to the goals of lifelong learning for all sections of society.

The programme began with a brief introductory session on the significance of World Literacy Day and an overview of the ULLAS initiative, its vision, and its relevance to building a literate and self-reliant society. This was followed by two main activities:

  • Reading Campaign: PSTE trainees took part in a reading session where selected passages, articles, and motivational readings on literacy and lifelong learning were read aloud and discussed, encouraging active participation and reflection among the trainees.
  • Poster Making Competition: Trainees creatively illustrated the themes of literacy, education for all, and lifelong learning through hand-made posters, using slogans, colours, and imagery to convey awareness messages related to ULLAS and World Literacy Day.
